Before anything, I must first warn that:
- This would not be a 'proper' review with flashy terms, detailed analysis and arguments and stuff.
- This post assumes the reader(s) has at least some knowledge beforehand of this series.
- Spoilers. Lots of spoilers.
1. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
(Phoenix Wright/Naruhodo doing what he does best: pointing index finger)
Played it quite some time ago. Overall: a good game, serves well to introduce to you the main character(s), the gameplay and the way things work.
Best case: Edgeworth’s case. Best case ever in the Phoenix Wright series, actually. Very well-constructed and satisfying regarding the results. The last case is weak compare to this, but then it's originally only added to the DS version of the game so maybe that's why it's kind of alienated from the rest of the game. Rating: 8/10
2. Phoenix Wright: Justice for All Overall: a so-so game. The fantasy level continues to rise with more channeling. For some reason this did not leave much impression on me, so in my mindset.. JFA is weak compare to the previous.
Best case: well, the last case, even though the case of Maya being accused was very very interesting. The last case has very good philosophical stuff and leading points. Definitely served well as the last case. It's the second best case in the whole series, if I must say. Rating: hm.. the others.. were weak. So 8.5/10
3. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations Overall: a boring one, if not for the last case and the appearance of Godot/Diego.
Good things:
- Diego is a really cool guy, in my opinion. Not because of his coffee… lol. But because of how he admits his own crime, how he loves Mia so much, how he’s so committed to punish Dahlia, his philosophy, how he feels guilty about himself this whole time, … His speech about when he was poisoned and woke up, finding both the woman he loves and the woman he detests gone, then gradually realizing why he did what he did, is the most moving bit of the series to me. On a related note, his nonsense babbling during trials are comic relief lol. Refreshing for once, after Edgeworth’s weird gestures and von Karma’s annoying whipping.
- Edgeworth taking place of Wright: Refreshing, again! I was actually thrilled at that part!
- Not many annoying characters
Not-so-good things:
- Uh.. what’s with the overly… emotional….and..that kind..relationship..between Wright and Edgey? <_<’ Edgeworth flew half the globe just because Nick is in danger? Now this, must be like a gold mine for yaoi fangirls, or any one (particularly female) with an active mind.
- Butz: He simply annoys the hell out of me. And no one phrases it better than Edgeworth. (That’s why I’ve grown to like Edgeworth a lot more now from this case, because of his bluntness and honesty. Even though he is still tsundere.)
Best case: Iris’s case. Rating: Hmm… apart from the last epic case, the others were weak. So, 8.5/10
4. Phoenix Wright: Apollo Justice
Just finished it. One sentenced impression: What the hell?! So many things wrong/annoy me from this game that I don’t even
Things left uncovered as if we should know for ourselves, or completely ignore, are all over the place:
- Apollo’s past: Why the hell did I not know anything about his past before he went to work under Kristoph?! Why was it the first time I knew he was an orphan when Brushel mentioned it? And why does it go ignored from then on???
- Lamiroir/Thalassha’s amnesia phase: No information about why she got blind from a gunshot, or how/why she went to Borginia after that WHILE supposedly lost her memory there. Did she lose her memory because of the shot ? Or during the time when she was in Borginia? No fucking clue.
- Thalassha and Apollo/Trucy: “I’ll tell them when the time is right.” Or something like that. What?! Why does she need to hide herself anyway? Makes no sense to me.
- Edgeworth’s absence: Surely he would come to demand some explanation when Wright gave in his badge?! I mean, they were like best friends at the end of Justice for All.
- Maya and Pearl’s absence: Where were they or what did they do when Phoenix got accused of forging evidence? At least they could have come to console him? Sure, Maya might have gone off to become the head of the village, but what about Pearl ? It’s like they just… disappeared. “Vanished”, magically saying.
- Vera’s sketches: Who sketched the cases Apollo did underneath her paintings and why? I’m guessing her father. But why are these pieces of evidence just left sitting there in the record? What are they there for? Just… what the fuck?
- And maybe more that I cannot think of atm
Things that keep bugging me:
- Phoenix Wright: he turned into almost a different person. Maybe it’s just me.. If you played the previous games in the series you’d probably understand. Also, I can’t just accept that he gave up being a lawyer. No resolution for that?! Even no apology to the mistake made that he was forging evidence? Urgh. I refuse to accept this game as a part of the series -_-
- Apollo: Urgh his stupid face expressions when something he didn’t know or expect strikes him. It’s fucking dumb! Is Capcom trying to make us hate him ? I know they succeeded on me. He also fails to see the (obvious/easy, imo) links between evidence, or the actual crime. I was so impatient going through all the needless procedures just to get him to “have an idea”.
- Characters: The overall cast is boring. Honestly. Trucy is the only one that is somewhat interesting to me. Kravier lacks that ‘aura’, that sense of ‘awe’ he gives people, like Edgeworth does.
- Apollo vs Kravier: just plain..... boring.
- Comparison to previous games in the series: this game has dropped like a whole level of difficulty. The cases are boring and fail to intrigue or challenge me to even think. What is with this game….
- Overload of recollection: Exactly as it sounds. Too much black-and-white rewinding of stuff I can still remember (because it was just 5 minutes ago – wow, long period of time there!). Just get to the fucking point!
- They should have explore the “perceive” thing more…. That’s probably the most interesting thing that keeps me going with the game -_-
Best case: none. Fine fine, if I must say, the first one, with Wright being accused. The rest tire me of their long sparky needless intros and accessory parts. Rating: 5/10
5. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Currently playing. I'm on the case of the 2 countries. Overall impression so far: interesting game, so far so good. A bit too much talking and excessive demonstrations/short flash of character's repetitive gestures at times. I think maybe I'm just too picky.. The new gameplay and 3d ..layout..? during investigation phase are definitely worth trying this game out :)
On an unrelated note, tsundere Edgey is tsundere. Rating so far: 9/10

Nói chung NN sum up khá nicely, nhưng tớ thấy có 1 số thứ cần add thêm
Rants:
Cái Apollo thì... actually i finished the game. :) So-so game IMO, some new mechanics are not fully explored, and the storyline never offers anything that is RELEVANT to the past installments of the series. And worse, the characters are all new... I mean partly why i love the series so much is because of the character. Pearl is fucking cute, Maya is fucking funny, and Wright is so silly yet so GAR at the same time.
I mean, that's what keep me coming back. Case-wise, only the first game manages to take me by surprise with its revelations, the rest of the cases are mediocre at best.
And to be objective, I think the cases in Apollo are quite interesting compared to, say, Justice for all <- worst game in the series IMO. :/ just that, I want to know:
1/ what the hell happened to both Maya and Pearl
2/ I WANNA SEE MAYA MARRIES NICK. GODDAMN IT! CAPCOM PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN.
3/ :( I want the old Wright back. Apollo is not half as interesting as Nick.

@Aoi: yeah man, the combo Maya-Nick-Pearl was like awesomesauce
Although I'm not that fond of Maya, or MayaxNick. I'm more interested in MiaxDiego :(
1/ and Edgeworth
2/ Imo they'll make a wtflol pair, but she's the best one for Nick in the series :/
3/ well fuck at least someone agrees with me! Nick's attitude at the end was like, o well I'll just do some other job, and I was like, wait what what did I go through all this for ;___________________________;
I think Phoenix wright is the only series in which the main female character died from the start. LOL. :/
Anyway, no news from Capcom for the new Gyakuten Saiban be side Edgeworth investigation.... I played the game and really didn't like it. To be rank, Miles is not as good as Phoenix as the main character. I don't feel any sense of connection with him, and with Gumshoe sticking to him 24/7 it's just as annoying as hell. Previous installments have Gumshoe appearing every now and then, but all the time? :/ I seriously doubt how that would work out
Capcom should stop experimenting and give me a fucking game that I want. :/ or at least a satisfactory wrap up for this whole series. :/
