British comedy

Me likes it.
Of course, as a Vietnamese I spent quite a lot of time watching American shows. I thought they were good, until I came to the UK and discovered these gold mines:

Blackadder: 4 seasons historical sitcom, from the middle age to the first world war. 4 generations of the Blackadder family, starring Rowan Atkinson.



A bit of Fry and Laurie: 4 seasons sketch show starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. They're of the same generation with Rowan Atkinson, and after Rowan succeed as Mr.Bean, Hugh Laurie became a huge star as Dr.House.



The IT Crowd: a rather "modern" sitcom about IT consultants in a company. Season 5 is coming this year or so I hope.



Monty Python: an old comedic group, their genre is "surreal". Quite brilliant if you don't give a damn about what's called "sanity".

Tbh, I always prefer British comedy over mindless American jokes. Btw I didn't know Stephen Fry is also a comedist, have always known him through his linguist radio program, no wonder why his narration is so damn funny

No I haven't. In fact I watched little of their works due to the lack of time.
Stephen Fry is an awesome comedian, though he did a lot of other work like QI show... some people called him "British national treasure". I'm unsure about native British, but I'm sure his English fucked my brain up.




In The IT Crowd I personally love Matt Berry, he's pure brilliant. Though sometimes he's like modern comics, kinda pointless and rude.

And I strongly recommend you to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail my most fave among their movies. Do watch if you have time.

For some reason, that IT Crowd is quite American-ish if you ask me. I prefer sketches like the BBC Big Train show or Monty Python, especially this one
